Experts say that the number one reason people fail to achieve their goals is a lack of clear planning - planning broken down into small, regular adjustments which lead steadily towards a goal. So as you progress through the year from time to time think about whats going on in the countries of where most of your visitors come from and think about what could sell well at that time of year e.g. mothers day or christmas periods.

You should first perform a physical health exam of your site(s) to ensure that you're maximizing your revenue potential. Once you know your strengths and weaknesses, you're ready to create your annual calendar. Relating what your site theme is with where your audience is coming from and trying to tie the two together with appealing in-demand products perhaps emphasising on those with a seasonal nature when their time comes.

Capitalize on seasonality trends and buying habits by partnering with the right advertisers at the right time. In other words, tie your promotional efforts to key events throughout the year. Work backwards from event dates on your calendar to schedule the milestones you will need to meet in order to be ready when those events arrive. Here are some dates and events to keep in mind:

January

Clearance Sales: Even after Christmas and Hannukah, retail is still very hot - especially January clearance sales. Funnel users to retailers with deeply discounted products. Cash in on gift card redemptions.

Credit Cards: January is big business for credit card companies and credit reports.

Popular Resolutions: Don't forget others' New Year's resolutions. Fitness equipment, gym memberships, and health supplement companies are exploding right now!

Travel: This is the biggest travel booking month of the year.

February/March

Taxes: People are beginning to think about tax services now.

Valentine's Day: February 14th is busy for flower companies, jewelers, and gifts & accessories retailers.

April/May

Mother's Day: May 15th is the biggest day of the year for flowers, cards and other gifts.

Weddings: June brides are shopping en masse for wedding-related items.

June

Father's Day: June 19th will drive up electronics and apparel sales.

Graduation: Graduates of all ages will be receiving congratulatory gifts.

July

Travel: This is the second biggest month for travel bookings.

Clearance Sales: This is also the second best month for clearance deals.

August/September

Back-to-School: Help consumers find their back-to-school clothing and supplies.

October

Halloween: This is a huge month for costumes and cosmetics.

Holiday Shopping Begins: Retail sales are starting to pick up, and top publishers will have most of their holiday preparations in full swing now.

November/December

Retail: Consumer goods categories are on fire now!

Restaurants and Entertainment: This category is seeing a boost as people splurge during this feel-good time.
