script friendly host?

I currently have dreamhost, but they don't support fget. I've been changing them to Curl, but this is a pain in the ass. Someone said something about compliling my own php in dreamhost to make it work, but I don't know how to do this.

Does anyone know how to compile the php in dreamhost or know of a decent cheap host that supports fget?
