running a scraper, where?

I've never run a scraper so far, but I will probably be in need of running one to scrape a whole section of the yellow pages in my country

now, I'm obviously a total noob at this: could I get in trouble for it?
it will make several thousands of requests to the yellowpages, should I set it to have some kind of sleep time before 2 requests?
should I run it from home?
should I get a free hosting account and run it from there?

what should I do?

sorry if this sounds idiot to you, but I know many of you use scrapers regularly, some advice would be appreciated

The answer to all you questions is yes. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just throttle the script and you should be OK.
