Redirecting Non U.S. Traffic

Need some ideas on this one. I've got a gaming offer that I run on several of my sites. Just banners / pop-under type of thing, and it only pays on U.S. traffic. Come to find out that nearly half of my clicks on this offer are international, so they're going through their global redirect. The offer doesn't have any international versions that I can send them to, so I'm not sure the best way to approach this. Obviously the international traffic isn't going to get what they think they're getting when they click on the banner, so what's the point of just redirecting them to some other random offer. I guess I might get an occasional conversion, but it seems like such a waste.

Any thoughts on a good way to go with this AND I haven't set up a geo-redirect like this before, so any tips on that would be great.

International mobile offers with landers that look like games. Not only do they pay decent, they also convert fairly well.

There was a Wixawin Wii mobile offer for Canada that was converting huge for me a while ago with random gaming traffic. Not sure if it's still around though.

I still get an impressive amount of conversions when I send to people to competing offers, even when my lander says "CLICK HERE TO TRY XYZ" and you just link to something else.

Or you can just set up a page for your international traffic and say:

ALERT!
xyz doesn't accept people from your country. We're told the best xyz for people in your country is abc. Click here to try abc instead.

This is nice, however, it would be better to have everything on my own server, including a frequently updated and pretty precise geo database.

I know there are a few databases that I can download, but most are incomplete and inaccurate. Can somebody suggest any good ones? I don't think the script is a problem once you have a reliable db...

Usually if you run with a good network they will redirect to a similar offer for you

Yeah, but most of the time the offers are completely off. For instance, on some content sites it would be nice to show different banners to users from different countries right away so they don't get confused when clicking on auto insurance offer and ending up on some toolbar download page. In some cases replacing these banners with the ones from another network, or even adsense would be cool...

you're nitpicking, maxmind's free service is what- 96% accurate? Compared with their subscription which is something like 99.5% this variance ONLY matters if you're pushing 6 figures a day in revenue. And if you were doing this you'd have georedirection already setup and wouldn't be asking.

Not trying to bust your balls, but put a quick simple reliable 'easy' solution in place as many have suggested above and move on to something that's going to actually make you money as opposed to obsessing over details just to obsess over them.

I use a personal script for this tweaked to certain needs of mine and to broaden the use of it.

You can have them coded fairly cheaply.
