Recovering Deleted Files - Mac OS X

So my girlfriend thought she backed up all of her English papers and deleted the original folder. Of course, she didn't.

There are a couple of programs that say that they can recover these deleted files but all of the ones that I've found say that they will find the files for free but you will need to pay money to actually get them back.

Anybody have any experience with any of these types of programs or any way to do it for free? She's using a Macbook with Snow Leopard.

Anybody that can help me get this done for free will receive $5-$10 via Paypal, depending on how quickly you act...
 


While you're figuring out how to recover them, make sure the machine in question stays off. The longer you leave it up and running, (and especially on bootup/shutdown), the less chance you will have to recover everything.

If this is not practical, get an image of the drive and make sure it is 'forensic quality'
