randomly buying domains?

Do you put much research into buying domain names or do you just pull the trigger when you think of a good one?


Example.
Recently I read about EV racing on cnn.com. the second I got back to my desk I purchased a list of domains related to the topic.

This was a problem of mine. I would get an idea or find myself inspired by something I read and register a bunch of domains. Before I know it, I had over a hundred domains for projects that were parked and not generating any income.

I now make a list and set a reminder in outlook to review the list in a day or two. If a domain is worthing picking up, it will be just as good in a few days. If it is gone, it wasn't meant to be.

Both. Sometimes I research and sometimes I'll think up a crazy domain name while shampooing my hair or something.

i had some renters that F-ed me over so i got deadbeatrenters.com. about a year later i get a call from someone wanting to buy it.

long story short, sold the domain for $1K.


just wanted to hear what process other people go through before buying.
