Just wondering I just finished my blog using wordpress and got the Google XML Sitemaps plugin and the SEO Title Tag plugin and built the sitemap with the plugin, it says google msn and ask.com were all notified. Is there anything basic things I need to do to at least make my website appear on the search engines? (not talking about 1st page, just appear on the search engine at least)

Make sure your privacy settings aren't set to block search engines. (Settings-Privacy)
A little tip to help get indexed quickly:
Go to wordpress.com, create a blog there and make a post with a link to your site.. should get the spiders going. (Might as well make it something relevant too as it'll pass a tiny bit of link juice.)

Yes, basically get links and keep adding content regularly. I've had good success with blog carnivals, if there's one for your category. Use dmoz, botw and whatever else you can.
There are plenty of other ways to get links, but that's a start. Other than that, just keep publishing articles that are targeted at a keyword search. You might be surprised what shows up eventually in the search engines.

haha crazy i just created a blog on wordpress putting my link down and it just showed up in google. Thanks guys
