I've spotted a nice niche for some software that I'm planning to develop.
Without giving too much away, the benefit is that it will help people get a lot more email opt-ins on their (typically wordpress) sites.
My dilemma is that I could develop it as a wordpress plugin, or I could launch it as a web app where people pay monthly to use it.
I could swing it either way, as there is the potential to offer data processing / reporting which fits nicely in with a web app.
However because my main audience is Wordpress users, it will probably need SOME sort of plugin element to integrate it into their blog.
I know some of you gay webmasters sell software. What's your experience been with either approach?
(oh, I should also note that the main audience I have in mind isn't affiliate marketers who will be paranoid about my stealing their data, so that isn't a consideration. )
