Hello,
I have been promoting adult sites for some time now and I`m just starting to try some mainstream affiliate programs.
I`ve been promoting adult using blogs, galleries, etc. My question is: how do you promote a mainstream product?? (Other than just using PPC)
Say for example I`ve found a particular range of auto products from a Commision Junction program that I am interested in promoting.I`ve been thinking about how to actualy promote them.Do I just take a CMS and start adding pages for each product with the link that CJ gives me? Maybe some ecommerce script?
I`ve been taking a look at using wordpress as a CMS and going this way would involve making a new page for each product and playing around with some plugins to make a static frontpage where I can just add some text.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

It sounds like you need to read up on SEO (if you haven't already); its critical for mainstream stuff. Most CMSs are not search engine friendly. Here are the biggies for mainstream affiliate promotion:

-PPC (Google, Yahoo, MSN, Adbrite, everything else can be pretty sketchy on conversions)
-SEO (blogs work)
-E-mail

I´ve been reading a lot on SEO lately. I´ve used wordpress blogs in the past for promoting adult programs since it´s SEO friendly and I´ve had some good results with it.
The thing is that I´m not comfortable with the idea of using wordpress or othre blogging software for promoting mainstream products.
Say for example I want to promote steering wheels. My idea was using some sort of CMS for adding pages about ford steering wheels, toyota steering wheels, etc. I do not see wordpress working here.
Any CMS recommendations that would keep me from having to add pages in by hand?

A lot of people use wordpress for exactly what you are saying (Jon is one of them). Another popular actual CMS is Joomla, but I have heard it is not very user friendly. I played with it, but lost interest.

I tried Joomla once and I spent about a week fooling with it and couldn´t manage to get anything useful out of it.
If I was a little more proficient with PHP I would try to code a custom solution since I have a pretty clear idea of what I want.
I´m gonna give WP a shot but not as a blog.I´m thinking about just making the front page static and adding pages, not posts, for every product.
