On DP there are a number of people selling article/links on their blog networks (i.e $7 for 2 articles on 280 blogs etc.) Just to throw out my personal experience here, I tried this on 2 of my sites a while back. All things equal with no other link building except for the blog network submission, one of the blogs managed to break into top 10 SERPs for the exact 3 keyphrases I intended, while the other blog - nothing (backlinks don't even show up on Yahoo). So for me its been a hit or miss.

Do any of you guys have experiences or thoughts on purchasing links from these networks? I don't have the ability to set up a network of my own splog network as of yet, so this solution seems like a nice compromise. But at the same time I can't help but wonder how this kind of linking would affect my site's trustrank in the long run.

So what do you guys think - purchasing links from large 3rd party blog networks yay or nay?

Thanks for posting this, Aveligand. I was wondering the same thing.

What exactly do you mean by "be careful"? Google doesn't penalize for incoming links does it?

I think yes because buying links on DP seems to be natural and one way in the eye of any search engine and have good value to the site.I recommand that one should go for it if he is realy in SEO work

I asked the question precisely because 280 links from 280 blog sites with exactly same articles with the exactly same anchor text linking to exactly the same sites is NOT natural. Google or any search engine worth its salt can pick that up in half a heartbeat.

The real question is whether or not G cares about the spammy linking.

I think it would be a lot submitting an article to PR sites. With regards to the release. What's the difference between that and you posting a great post that tons of people repost on their blog giving you credit? Not much right? Just a paid post. Always try and think of things on how they could be legit. Imagine if you posted something great on digg and 100k people picked it up, can google penalize for this? Nah they'll reward you. :D

I own a blog network and sell links myself. I've been using my blogs earlier to rank my sites up on SERP's and it has always worked for me. However, the key to success is how soon does the links gets indexed? Do they ping their blogs regularly or gets the bots to crawl over them frequently?

That's what they'd like you to believe. Check this (a link to DP ). I like to do things slowly with newer sites. Do some social bookmarking, directory submissions, article submission and then later on down the road buy some blog posts.

Just recently I went a bit overboard on some sites. All going for relatively low competition phrases (few thousand exact matches). 1 aged one got to top 10 and stayed there, the new ones are sand boxed to shit.

Ok, one last noob question: how old would be considered reasonably "aged" for this purpose? 1 year? 5?

Happened to me alot as well, but I stopped caring, sooner or later the stuff returns in top positions...I just keep pushing links.

I bought a link package off DP with 280 blogs, and even supplied like 140 spun articles that were posted twice each. I saw a few hundred links show up and then most of them went away within the next 2 months. I didn't really see much of a bump for SERP either. I would not purchase this again.

I also purchased an article marketing service (with spun articles) from DP with 3 links in each article. So far that has resulted in about 100 links and I am seeing an excellent boost in SERP. I will be buying more of these if the links stay.
