I've just started to build a content site.
I'm planning on using adsense and a few affiliate links (amazon mostly )
At the moment there's only a few finished pages

Later I hope to add some more features that would keep users coming back regularly along with much more content. If I can build up a lot of content I was thinking of bundling it togther into an ebook along with access to useful online tools that I would develop just for this niche.

Should I promote the site in its current state? OR is it better to wait until it's more complete before putting the word out?
Should I try to get users to register even if there's not much to look at?

Is it better to leave the site adfree until there's regular traffic?

Do you go all out with promotion even if it's only a domain name or wait until the harddrive's full before promoting?

TIA :)

Well submit it to search engines asap, so your in google for launch, and maybe add it to some directories to get some backlinks.

I hate promoting sites before they are finshed.

Glad to see some others feel the same way.

Theres nothing more that pisses me off than when I go to a website that looks like it has great potentional to give me what I was looking for to find that it is unfinshed.

If your site have nothing to offer to the people at its current state, they will not return to your site again.

Save that promo fund/time until u complete ur site.

I think you should leave the ads in there right away. You could turn away some of your regular visitors if they suddenly have to look at a bunch of ads.

I disagree - get up a few pages of content as quickly as possible then just add as you go - build links and content as soon as you can - if you rank well you will always get traffic
and if i search for something and see a url i visited a year ago that didnt have content
i will still visit that site again to see what they have now

thanks for your help.

I'll flesh out the current articles and start promoting a limited but not broken site.
I think I'll leave the small number of ads that are there at the moment and reevaluate when I do the next big update.

Age of a site counts for a lot so having something on-niche there as early as possible is best I 'spose.

I spent a good 3-4 days just adding content to my site before telling people about it.

I always wait until my sites are at 100% before I promote them. Why? I have found I tend to move on instead of adding the rest of the features that I originally wanted to.

I would make sure your data structure is secure before doing a beta launch. Content can and should be added daily.
