Project Time Tracking?

How do you guys manage tracking hours over multiple projects?

On a daily basis I deal with at least 2 - 3 different projects that constantly flip flop (I dont get 3 straight hours on this project and 2 hours on this project.. Its like 45 minutes here, 20 there, etc.)

I have to track my time for my boss but its becoming a real pain in the ass...
 


Sucks when you get into a situation like that. I run an IT department, and after 2 years or so, the management situation changed and they asked me to basically make a daily log of everything I did and the time spent on it. Initially it felt like I was in grade school. I fooled around with some project management software, but it was always too bulky, so I eventually just started using my outlook calendar and filling in stuff after the fact. I also carry yellow legal pads with me constantly (home, work, in the car) and I date the top of the page and keep notes on everything.. about once a week I transfer a lot of these notes into google documents, but I always keep my dated legal pads around on my bookshelf. A combination of those things might work fo ryou.
