Programming & SEO?

I'm looking to combine my love of programming with SEO. Right now I pretty much know nothing about SEO. All I know at this point are some basics and that you can do churn and burn and quickly get some traffic flowing.

I'm thinking that a good strategy would be to use "parasites" like youtube, medium.com, etc. and then build a ton of links that lead back to the youtube video or the medium article.

I could do this for a random niche like "cure foot fungus", that might not have as much competition as something like payday loans, and then hopefully rank fairly quickly.

The youtube video and medium article would serve as the landing page and lead the user to the offer.

Am I at least going in the right direction?

Also, what programming language should I use? I enjoy programming but definitely not an expert. I've been digging through old posts on here and it seems like mattseh is a well respected member, epecially amongst the SEO crowd, and it looks like he uses Python exclusively.

Could I use a language like Python to automate a lot of the SEO process?

How about not restricting yourself to SEO? You need to be creative if you are going to be doing this. Simply find a niche within IM (if your goal is to sell software to IMers) or sell your shit to average people on a website that you brought to the top of whatever keyword you are targetting.

Also, programming languages on this scale doesn't matter. You need to pick a language and stick with it. So pick something you like. Most of the languages out there now are optimized to the point that they will be fine in 99% of the cases you build them for and for that 1% you can probably write off as a loss.

C#, Python, Ruby, Java, C++, PHP, etc... who gives a shit, just make sure to stick with it.

Yes, you can use Python to automate a lot of things. It does have many good libraries to speed up development.

However, I would stick to 1 thing for now.

I don't know anything about Python, but probably want to jump in manually for a bit so you can get a grasp of what it is you're trying to automate.

I agree with jumping in manually and learning how to do things that way first before trying to automate anything. There's a lot you're going to want to commit to memory. That and automation can/will do more harm than good if serious precautions aren't taken (e.g. Public IP getting exposed/banned, infinite loops of doom, data loss, etc).

You mentioned that you currently enjoy programming but I didn't see what language(s) you are currently coding in. The best advice I can give is to pick 1 language you really enjoy and learn it until it becomes 2nd nature.

As was said in this thread, the language choice doesn't matter near as much as just jumping in and learning the syntax. Personally, I prefer Ruby these days (C# for windows shit) but I'm constantly adding new languages and techniques to my arsenal.

Good luck on this. Feel free to send a PM if you have any questions on the programming side of things. I've been coding since 1984 or so and still enjoy talking shop.

CodeCademy is your best friend right now if you want to learn how to program, they got a good Python course. Otherwise, YouTube tutorials and pick up a few books to learn even more and have something to reference to. I know Javascript well but sometimes I will refer back to one of my books if I stumble upon something I don't quite understand. Eventually, you will learn everything you need to know..

SEO is easy but you need to really learn about marketing as a whole if you want to become successful with SEO. Nowadays it's all about social media marketing and social factors play a huge role in traffic and search engine rankings. Clients don't want just SEO, they want the full online marketing package..

in the right direction but it's much more complex than anyone's giving it credit. pulling off a scalable solution like you're hinting at leads down a road not too many have walked. it requires talent.

programming - i like ruby and c# (mostly for visual studio).

SEO strategies that help generate a surge in SERP rankings and that which every programmer can follow successfully. It should be mentioned that focus here is on “dynamic content” and not static content.

yes ofcourse you can do programming and seo, it depends on your preferences.

i wouldn't say don't do both programming and seo if you can.

btw, what programming language can you do? you haven't mentioned.

you can go with python.

Yes, you should gave it a try. If something is in your mind just follow it but get some basic information first.

What I also suggest is - go simultaneously in your action.

development point of view try minimize the images on your websites........and do it SEO before launching
