Man, price differences between the UK and the USA are really starting to PISS ME OFF!
Why is it that we pay SO much more for the same thing?

i.e. Expensive coffee = £3.50 ($7)
Now correct me if i'm wrong but would the same expensive type coffee cost around $3.50 (£1.75)?

I was looking into buying a Line6 Guitar Port last week, in the US they are around $100 (£50) but here they are $200 (£100)
What the fuck is up with that?!

So, my question to you is; Who's going to rent their L.A appartment to me and my partner?

lol

While I agree, making a like-for-like comparison on certain items doesn't tell you much. There are plenty of goods and services in the US that cost more than in the UK and if you only took those in isolation then, using your logic, you'd want to move here. We should probably all be moving to Vietnam now if we want cheapness.

Beer is much cheaper where I am (Yorkshire) than you're going to find down your way - likewise houses, food... most things - but the only influx of people I'm seeing is Eastern Europeans. Eastern Europeans will find most things in Yorkshire a hell of a lot more expensive here than in their country of origin, but they're still coming. By your logic the Eastern Europeans should be heading home and all the Londoners will be heading up here. Not likely (thankfully).

So yeah, this was a massively off-topic diatribe, and I know yours was just a throw-away comment, but nonetheless. A like-for-like comparison doesn't show anything.

what's the minimun wage in UK?

Age 16 - 17 = £3.40 ($7.16)
18 - 21 = £4.60 ($9.69)
Above 22 = £5.52 ($11.63)

What are they like in the states?

7.15 for all age in New York (before tax)..not sure the tax rate for minimun wage.

i made 40k last year and paid around 30% for tax

What about petrol then.....? £1 a fuckin litre! Do Americans even pay that for a gallon?

hahah you son of a bitch, dont get me started on gas

$3.15 - $3.20 / Gallon

I dont know what it works out to $/L I just woke up

BTW, Im not sure, but I think I have the highest gas prices in the fucking country right now

Hold up,
4 litres = 1 Gallon*

So yo guys pay 80 cents per litre? 40p in real money!

lol, in teh US moneys, our petrol prices are the equivelant to $8 per gallon!!!

why not order it from a US supplier.
it might not make it past customs though but i got my TonePort UX2 shipped from the US without having to pay UK tax on it :)

I think that's only a cash gift...er 10K a year I think? That's how my grandpa started dispersing his children's inheritance. Better than them losing the cash to the death tax.

The USA has a generally good price for electronics equipment compared to almost all other places.

I'm just buying a new laptop, I'm from the UK but live in mainland China at the moment. The laptop I've bought sells for $2000 in the states, about $3000 in the UK and over $3500 in mainland China. At least there's Hong Kong.

See, we call it that to stop us getting confused with LPG, which coincidently is actually gas. haha.

Actually its stored as a liquid isn't it? DOH!

So its like a big Arkansas or something over there? lol

Sorry that was the last time I seen LPG containers... one in every yard ;)

haha, we have alot of cars driving around with it underneath the framework.

Seems dodgy as hell to me, driving around with a car sized gas canister waiting to explode!
