So I’m in a niche where according the adwords tool PPC guys are paying around $1.50 for each visitor for more or less all of the same keywords that I rank for. The same group of sites have been buying traffic here for years so it’s not newbs or people just testing stuff pushing up the price. Ill also point out they are all affiliate marketers like me and so are sending people on somewhere else once they click (also like me).

So is it reasonable to assume that I should also be getting the same amount of value from each visitor ($1.50)? The reason I ask is that despite running the same type of offers/landing pages etc I’m getting no-where close to this number, but is this even a realistic way to look at the problem? Best explanation I have so far is maybe these guys have much higher paying deals with the networks than me? Or are the adwords PPC numbers just as off for PPC as they are for organic volume?

I'm currently working on a niche where the PPC on google is above $4. The only way i can fathom that they're making any ROI on this level is that they're using the customer's emails and info to build lists and sell to them repeatedly.

also they are authorities, so they have a much higher conversion rate than I would.

its a hard nut to crack.

Yes but what I dont understand is that there whole business model is essentially laid out for everyone to see, I can see the type of landing page and offer they are using so in theory it should be easy to replicate.

Im actually thinking about mailing some of them to ask, afterall organic and PPC arnt really competitors?

I wouldn't expect to hear back on that one.
If it were me, I would delete your email straight away.

I think the key is re-marketing.
The face value of the initial sale is not the end of the story. In fact, in most cases, the initial sale will account for the smallest portion of the overall revenue generated.

Also CPC doesn't necessarily directly correlate to SEO competition.
Competition is always a factor in CPC, but a $5 product CPC will be a lot less than the CPC of a product that can generate upwards of $200. Both keywords can be equally as competitive SEO wise, but the CPC varies wildly.

Basically there are far too many variables in place in each individual niche to base any assumptions on.
The only thing you can do is research like hell, buy your competitors products to see what they offer post sale (if anything).
Sites like serpiq.com will provide a rough guide on the competition that you will be facing.
Check out ahrefs.com to see what links your competition has in place to secure their rankings.
There are many more but this is definitely enough to get you started.
