PPC, more efficient to learn than seo in the long term?

My thinking is...

If you are not enjoying it, you are less likely to spend time on it. Find what motivates you and focus on that.

People talk about the crossover between PPC and SEO alot but personally ive never seen the similarities. Yes they are both marketing but from a purely technical point of view its a separate skill, with any skill you gotta devote 100% on it to get good imho

These two are directly related and don't dupe yourself into thinking otherwise. Your PPC costs are affected by what you do in SEO. PPC costs go down when your page more directly relates to the ad. If you don't care about the cost of your PPC then don't worry about it.

For some bizarre reason some people to seem to segregate PPC, SEO, and Web Design as distinct separate unrelated fields. They are all intertwined and any decent online marketer needs to be pretty good at all three, or at least know somebody who is.

Exactly this.

Except, you don't need to be good at web design, web designers are very inexpensive.

Thanks Traska. Let me clarify.

You need to be at web design in regards to SEO and content onsite. The graphics anybody can do.

Start with PPC and if it's profitable, invest in SEO.

If you're a pussy with PPC then go with SEO and stick to high volume, medium competition keywords and use that money to fuel your PPC campaigns.

Specialize in a traffic method - specifically one where buyers not browsers go.

The biggest elephant in the room is that google only controls 6% of internet traffic.

Don't build a business based on anything that's "free". At least when you are paying for traffic, your (traffic) supplier feels some obligation towards you.

Also, if you build a business and attempt to sell it (I'm not talking about a flippa website here), one of the things the buyer will look at is the SOURCE (preferably SourceS) of your traffic.

Also, don't just focus on Adwords - focus on the many sources of PPC.

Finally, smart SEO uses paid traffic to find buying keywords then you optimize on those. No sense rankiing for a word with 50K (exact match) searches a day that doesn't convert to sales....

On a different note, one of these days people will stop obsessing about traffic and wake up to conversions....

If you are getting 30% conversions (example) you are making as many sales a day with 100 visitors/day, as someone who gets 3000 VISITORS/DAY but only converts at 1%.....just think about that for a second....

Your conversions are a helluva lot more in your control than how much you pay for traffic in an auction style (ppc) market or how much google dancing you need to do....

SEO isn't sex, you're not supposed to fucking enjoy it. SEO is more like masturbation actually, it's really just something that has to be done. It's good at the end when you're finished but the actual process is kind of depressing and boring.

this needs to go in the new header we're putting up on the site
