These two are directly related and don't dupe yourself into thinking otherwise. Your PPC costs are affected by what you do in SEO. PPC costs go down when your page more directly relates to the ad. If you don't care about the cost of your PPC then don't worry about it.
For some bizarre reason some people to seem to segregate PPC, SEO, and Web Design as distinct separate unrelated fields. They are all intertwined and any decent online marketer needs to be pretty good at all three, or at least know somebody who is.

SEO isn't sex, you're not supposed to fucking enjoy it. SEO is more like masturbation actually, it's really just something that has to be done. It's good at the end when you're finished but the actual process is kind of depressing and boring.
