PPC and Dating - What am I doing wrong??

For the past 2 weeks I've been trying to push a sugar daddy dating offer on POF. I don't have much money to spend so I don't have results like the big guys, but here is what I do have so far:

330 Clicks
11 Sales
3.33% Conversion

My ads seem to be doing ok. I'm staying anywhere between .3 and .15, usually if I drop below .09 I pause the ad. Some ad copy below:

Join SugarSugar.com today and find a
caring, wealthy sugardaddy who will
pay bills, buy gifts and spoil you!

99% of my ads have a pic of a shirtless guy and I always make some mention that this is a sugar daddy/sugar baby site so people aren't mislead.

I have been direct linking, but today I started with a simple (very simple) LP that I put together (I don't know alot about web design) and unfortunately it hasn't seemed to help at all. My LP:

I probably shouldn't be revealing this much about my campaign, but I'm so disgusted right now I really don't even care. I have asked my AM for some help, and well....anyway, now I'm asking here.
 


I can tell you EXACTLY what is wrong: your assumption that anything is wrong!

When I read your results, my interpretation is that you have found an offer / combination that is converting. Okay, so it is not profitable. What are your options:

1. run your ads at a cpm that is profitable

2. test new creative
---new pictures
---new copy (more specific copy i.e. "I am a wealthy man in Texas looking for a 25 year old caucasian women with a slim body. Let me pamper you! Chat with me at SugarSugar.com ) - you can create 100's of variants with Dynamic Insertion that allow for detailed ads.

3. test new landers - get specific landers designed that are tailored to the user who is clicking on them.

If you can't afford to test, then you have a couple of options:

1. copy what others are doing EXACTLY
2. play in a market suited for your funds / capacity

Even though you may be thinking #1 seems like the way to go, let me warn you there is one thing you will not be able to copy out of the gate - the payouts that high volume producers are getting. In reality, you are better of with Option 2.

You have picked a hyper competitive niche on a hyper competitive ad platform to make your $$$ - check your expectations to see if they are realistic.

The dating game is VERY competitive. I've tried my hand at this off/on a few times with moderate success. That said try and find traffic sources that the big guns are not exploiting. That is very much key to making anything with this.

I however found that it took too much of my time babysitting the campaigns. Guess I'm just to lazy to make it work well for me.
 
I dont know anything about PPC per se but I dont like the LP. Your writing style is too wordy - "Thanks in large part to the internet" zzzz "you may want to seriously consider entering into a" yawn.

If you think about your target audience (18-25 females? probably not particularly smart ones?), write to them and stick to a style of language they can relate to. I see you writing it as if you are a girl who benefited from a sugar daddy relationship so instead of the boring "here are some tips" angle why not go for something like "My Story - How A Sugar Daddy Paid For My College Degree"?

looks like your on the right track your ads are getting good CTR but seems like your prolly just need to work on that conversion rate and you'll be in the green.. dont forget that POF has a TON of good demo targeting options available.. if you have the budget id say start testing certain variables of your current targeting against each other becasue those 11 sales could be coming from a particular part of your targeting and the other is bringing down your ROI..

the POF ad uploader tool makes this pretty easy and not very time consuming BTW.

maybe your targeting a particular demo in the US only... have you tried canada? international bids are always going to be cheaper. don't ever be satisfied with your ad CTR keep making new ads.. and don't forget to use the report tool that will show you what ages etc. are clicking your ads that POF has.. if your demo is broad this should help narrow things down..
 
Good comment about the style of writing ... the thing to remember is your ad writing style is 'blokey" (UK terminology) then the copy inside yr site is going to be the same? You will be turning off your target audience.

been in the adult dating game for 10 years - ppc is a killer ... I convert approx 1.5% ... profitalbe? hardly ... (not from site subscritptions anyway) but we do generate income from reltaed sales/actvities off the website ... (lingerie, vid's holidays etc)

good luck with it all ... some sites you have to dig in for the long haul ....
