phpbb vs vBulletin ?

What are the main reasons why people buy vBulletin compared to using phpBB? Don't you have to buy a vBulletin license for each site?

Yes, but vBulletin is more secure, has a better admin backend, is easier to customize (imo), and is better written.

vBulletin is a much better product than phpBB on every level and worth every penny if you're building a serious forum.

If you are cheap like me it is possible to import your posts from phpbb to vbulletin. I'm going to try and work my way up to a full liscence vB.

phpbb cant be mentioned in the same breath as vB

IPB, www.invisionboard.com, is also a secure bet.

I have never used VB, but if you're looking for a solution that is free and has the feel of VB, then www.mybboard.com is the way to go. I tried PunBB and had one hell of a time customizing it, even changing the colors because the stylesheet is all over the place. MyBB is very easy to customize and is has a pretty damn big following.

I tested almost every message board out there and vBulletin is in my opinion the best.
