Permalinks Question

I have a site built with WP and my permalinks are currently setup as the default setting, url.com/?p=123. I want to switch over to the Post Name setting, http://url.com/sample-post/. If I change this over now will my older posts be automatically changed or will they stay at the default setting?

thanks guys. I have some hand coded tables that I hard coded the default permalinks into. Guess I will need to spend sometime re-doing those tables.

Yeah it does happen automagically as these guys put it!

I've changed titles before and it just redirects your pages to the new ones - pretty neat!
