I am looking to have a bot created for a type of trading - different than stocks, but in the finance realm. The important thing here is there is significant money in the account that the bot will be working in.

Therefore I can't run the risk of it being compromised.

I want to host the bot on a VPS so that it can run constantly. So security is the main focus of concern.

Any suggestions on what security measures to take on the VPS?

Will you be hosting in a datacenter, like DigitalOcean or Linode?
In that case admins can get your raw data unless you will be encrypting everything. Even then I wouldn't be totally sure about data integrity.

What I am sure about is this: if you don't know how to secure a Linux box you need to find someone who does.

I can recommend two options:
- Steve from Rack911 (www.rack911.com). Steve is insanely knowledgeable and knows the ins and outs of Linux like you wouldn't believe.
- Scott from AdminGeekz (Linux Server Management - Professional System Administration - AdminGeekZ). He takes only certain types of clients so I'm not sure if its a fit.

These aren't the cheapest options but it doesn't look like you're shopping for cheap in the first place.
