Hey all,

I am interested in getting a website developed that is a scaled down version of Nikeid.com

I wont have near as many products, around 2- 3 maximum.
The functionality of the 3D designer is the key thing I am interested in.
I urge you guys to try it out, it is very intuitive and simple to use.

rga.com are the developers of NikeID and they seem to be very heavy hitters.

What kind of work is required to go into something like this?
What would be a realistic budget to create something similar?

Cheers,
Jen

Since it's not truly 3d, but rather, 8 different "2d" pictures at different angles for each shoe, I personally think it could be done for less.

To me, the vast majority of the work is the "slicing up" into layers (laces, eyelets, sole, trim ,etc ) of all the pictures. The flash code that's overlaying color on the various slices is probably fairly simplistic.

A cheap, but talented, graphic artist that's capable of creating the slices at a low cost would be the key.

The load speed is also quite impressive for a site such as NikeID. It loads relatively quickly. The look and feel of the website is also key for us.

So am I looking for a graphic designer or a web developer for this type of type of work? Not sure where to start to scout appropriate people for this kind of project.

Freelancer.com has a whole bunch of people that will surely bid for this kind of work but it is difficult to tell if they can actually deliver.

Just sent you an PM , please have a look .

Thanks

Thanks for the PM. Will contact you if I need.

BTW. that article was very very good. Especially the point about hiring multiple developers from a range of freelancer sites to test out the waters. Great suggestions.

Cheers

The design part could prove to be expensive. I believe we could work out the best solution based on your budget. Please email me at writelance12(at)gmail(dot)com to discuss further.

I am thinking about throwing up a freelancer job soon to create just the 3D/2D editor. All other functionality is not important at this stage. It does not need to look pretty, just needs to work though.

If I was to simply provide images of the product and outline that NikeID is the benchmark, what sort of fee would be reasonable?

Also, what sort of work would be involved for the developer to create this editor module?

Cheers,
Phil

Hit up Alex aka HigherPR aka Hyper6. He's legit, but if you do go with him tell him he owes me a commission ;).

EDIT:

He could do the design and his brother could do the "real" development. Both are members here.

Thanks for that.

Do you have an URL to the work that hyper6 did for you?
