One brand vs multiple country specific brand

Which one is better?

Create one big brand e.g. mywebsite.com and build country specific websites e.g. mywebsite.country extension.

Or create each website by language of the country.

mywebsite.com for english
minwebsida.se for swedish
etc..

For long term maybe one big brand is better but are country specific website easier to rank and promote?

1 big brand (think USA) and then put offensive properties around the internet. Some of these properties will function as your military.
