Jon in his recent blog post talks about how very few arbitragers are using the "2.0" way and are still doing arbitrage the old way. What do you think he means by that and are there any examples around?

His first arbitrage post talked a bit about arbitrage 2.0 and this is what I gathered from it:

1. Make the ad links look like the text.
2. Meld the ads into the content/template
3. Full of content.

I'm having trouble visualizing what such a site would look like and why it would be so much better than short crappy content and big obvious ad blocks. Any ideas?

Guys, what's so confusing? He explains it right in the blog post. He refers to arbitrage 1.0 as fake-search-engine sites, and arbitrage 2.0 as the stuff everyone on here has been talking about the last few weeks - a page of content with ads.

It can't be the way we're doing it, because all of us around here are still only making 2:1 and sometimes 3:1 on our investment. Supposedly arbitrage 2.0 can make much more than that.

I quote Jon:
Jon said:
PPC arbitrage is still in Web 1.0 for the most part though. This is because most people practicing it are lazy bastards that make a 2:1 - 3:1 on their investment and are fine with it and move on. These webmasters also follow the lame rules of splashing some content here and there, sticking a few obvious ads around, crossing your fingers and hoping for clicks.

exactly my point. somewhere i think i remember jon saying 5:1-7:1....and like drusam said, i'm pretty sure most of us are making 3:1 or 2:1

Holy shit, I just posted that a few hours ago and you are already tearing it up? Fast workers.

Bingo!

then how the fuck are you getting 5:1 and up on your investment? (rhetorical question, I really don't expect you to give specifics...)

I can conclude myself:
The right niche. The right traffic. at the right price.

damn that was easy. back to the drawing board...

Actually my arbi sites are like this... currently they are not automated and I actually write articles for each niche. tedious, but it works lol.

Yea YPN pays good as long as it remains in beta

Anyone have a screenshot of what a web 2.0 arbitrage site would look like?

Also, I have noticed that a lot of 2.0 sites use a certain blue font that looks like a link but it is lighter. Does this special color have a higher CTR than regular blue?

You are wise a very wise DruSam....your answers are hidden in the drawing board :)

Sometimes you can do everything right and you just have to wait it out to hit it (and sometimes it never comes), and some people do a lot wrong and hit it right away. There's not always a clear cut-black and white answer.

I do believe success is a combination of skill and playing the odds (get enough sites and enough streams of income and amazingly.......the odds of success increases and so does revenue!)

I'm guessing when Jon started out he kept at it and paid attention when things didn't work out the way he thought they would and he LEARNED from what some may label as mistakes. I doubt he dwelled much on what didn't work, I'm guessing he gathered up what he learned and moved on to the next project, repeating this till he ended up where he is today. Obviously, Jon is still going strong!

Yeah, I guess it's always test, test, test..5:1 does seem mighty far away though=)
yumm..

"...he can read through an article two of content..." -End of Jon's Blog

That part confused me since what I see on here is people talking about 150 to 250 words written like a 5th grader and wanting the person to click away from the shit page. The above quote makes it seem like arb 2.0 is adding some value with an article or 2.

Is the idea of Arb 2.0 to add enough value so no ban from the G?

I think little or crappy content has never been reason for G Adsense ban. They are fighting against it in Adwords, but they don't hunt those sites down who have little content and use Adsense.

Arbi 2.0 is indeed making it look like value site. Too bad for the people who don't have automated scripts to take care of the content
My crystal ball tells me that I'll see plenty of wikipedia scrape sites soon following auto-ban from SEs ;) ;)
