I moved recently and the bedroom I've converted into an office is dark, due to the direction it faces. I'd like to mimic natural lighting as much as possible.. I can't stand darkness/cloudiness.

Suggestions for types of lighting/light fixtures etc.. ?

In my old office in the house with vaulted ceiling I used a 1' long 120W CFL it was rated to equal about 300w normal, and it's insane. Mimics natural light very well. In my new office I put in can lights with CFL, I put in 10 lights on 2 switches so I can control exactly how much light I need.

The trick with CFL is to get the more expensive quality units, and then get the color you like. Most everyone from home depot, wal-mart, etc, are not what you want... they may have 1 or 2 brands that are OK but most likely their wattage is low.

Wouldn't that be a bit annoying having that bright light blasting you in the face?

haha. Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a wiseass. I believe you can get those faux-sunlight fixtures in a variety of ways....so it's not a retarded rectangle on your desktop.
