I'd like to purchase a domain name which is set to expire in April 08. It's not being used by its owner (just parked at GoDaddy).

What's the best way to make an offer on the domain name?
Should I outright email the guy and say "I'd like to buy this off you for $100"?

Or is there a service I should use to make an offer? And how can I be assured that the person actually transfers me the domain after purchase?

I know these may be omg-newb questions, so thx

Is there a reliable/fast way to confirm he actually transferred the domain following payment?

escrow.com offer service that protect seller/buyer, it is like insurance and monitor the transfer of the domain.

Check out Moniker.com. In addition to knowing how they work, (since I worked for them, before coming over to LeadFlash) I have used them for personal transactions. Very solid and safe! If you need a contact, let me know.
