No Wonder Why Google's Panda Bitch Slapped Me

So I started some shitty blog in 2009 that consisted of me bs'ing about random products in a niche. I'd literally write like 100 words about the product; complete shit content.

Google rewarded me back then, and I was literally killing it. I had a $10k month (pure SEO) and it's the first site that ever made me feel like I could do this shit for the rest of my life.

So I kept it up.

I was the wizard of creating shitty content. It seemed too easy. Then one day I started reading on various blogs that shit content wouldn't be sustainable long term. What the fuck? News to me.

So then I hired an Indian, and some other writer to bullshit for me. I thought their content was alright, but obviously nothing special.

Then around late 2010 I hired an American writer that actually produced & continues to produce good content for me. As good as good gets in the "bullshitting about random products" genre.

Things were rocking up until about August of this year. I did some URL restructuring, plus that seems to have been when Google released a mob of angry bitch-slapping pandas from their bamboo cages. I guess my URL restructuring put me under the microscope of said Pandas, and I got my ass kicked.

Next thing I know, my website takes a huge fucking hit.

From like 1k hits a day to 90. Fuck. Me.

I redesigned my shit to make it look presentable, then appealed to the Google bitchslap team.

They sent me some email within a couple of days stating that my site still didn't adhere to all of their guidelines or some shit.

So now I'm in the process of re-thinking every aspect of the site.

Tonight I'm going through almost 1,000 posts in my blog. My strategy is to sort by date and start editing/deleting all the potentially shitty content up until my good writer took over.

So here I am, and I'm absolutely blown away at how long I got away with this shitty content mill.

I'm finding shit that my Indian wrote that is hilarious, and I wrote some real winners too. Not to mention that the majority of the posts are like 5 sentences long, with some copied bullets from the sales page, etc...

Fuck you google, and fuck me for producing shit. I should have known better.

So I'm sitting here thinking, fuck my life. Why not post some boobs on WickedFire?

Moral of the story: don't post shitty content.

Can you only appeal to Google's team if you got sandboxed? Basically I've sent spamlinks and went from page 2 to page 8 for my keyword, any chance I can appeal it or something, and claim I didn't send the spam links? My content is generally OK.

Noobish question i know but how does google decide if the content is "Shitty"? Unless they manually review it or something..

Nice boobs btw, love the 4th pic. + rep

my sites that fell in panda update probably had some of the best content I have created on a subject

all the content/media on the site was original and created by people who had first hand experience on the subject

@cowsgonemad they are using human reviewers nowadays. It was too easy to mess with the bots. There was a guideline leaked from google what is considered shitty content

Thanks for the boobs.

Actually you can get away with sneaky stuff for a long time if you don't do anything out of the ordinary or make a WSO and start selling your idea. (Hint hint DP owners, and Ebay CJ)

You give google way too much credit. The panda algorithm is a hit and miss as far as I can see. I have some sites with decent or average content go down in ranking but also some real shitty sites go way up too.

In fact one of my autoblogs which automatically pulls content from rss feeds and spins them with TBS went up 3 to 4 times in traffic after panda. The grammar of the spun content is usually way worse than anything you get from Indians charging $2 for a 500 word article.

Before it was making about $10 to $20 a day from adsense but now has been pulling in about $75 to $90 a day for the last 6 months. Not bad for a site where a do almost zero work on.

cool story bro, I like the part about the pandas being released from bamboo cages.

If I were you, I would just start over doing the same thing on a different domain.

it's hard to figure out. i have sites that with the same content and link building strategies get perma-penalized but one of them is gaining ground in a competitive serp. who knows why.

You sure you weren't getting hammered from the quality of your back links?

It sounds like your reviewing lots of products which would mean alot of affiliate links, so I don't think google will ever forgive you!

I wouldn't be surprised... but I sort of would at the same time.

I started using a backlink generation company a couple of weeks after I did my massive url restructuring, which was after my rankings already were falling.

I had also used some link wheel companies in the past that provided great results.

Google probably just determined my backlinks to be shit after I flagged myself by restructuring my urls.

It aint that.

Google just hates on big sites these days.

My 2am opinion - Sure they wacked a bunch of obvious little signals they picked up on

But

The majority of pandas damage is just a straight up "juice dilution" for large sites, with a bunch of little triggers and signals that affect just how large your "juice dilution" happens to be.
