Newbie question on affiliate porn

Unless you have a plan to generate 1'000's of visitors a day to a very tight niche leave the Porn to the Foreign Programmers and the Black hat guys.
Honestly the conversion are absolutely horrible, so you had better be able to line up a hell of a lot of traffic. I'm talking 1 in 2,500 type of conversions. Yes you might get 1 on 500.
I've got an old site (About 10 years old) in a well defined niche that has pulled around 2 million uniques in that time frame (Not a huge accomplishment for porn) and it hasn't bought me a beach house in Malibu.
Porn is so easy to find; it doesn't leave much of a reason to buy it. Anyone who knows how to use Agent can download more porn than they could ever look at.

if you pre-sell and filter your traffic you won't have as terrible of ratios... if I did more filtering my ratios would be better, but I'm kinda lazy...
blogs are a good place to start... review sites are pretty good too... tube sites are another option... just stay away from TGPs as they're dying... and make sure you pick a niche or micro-niche... the biggest mistake I see new people make is building generic porn sites... do your market and keyword research first as there are tons and tons of smaller niches and fetishes within the adult biz, some of which still aren't saturated yet...
dating and cams as saturated as they are, aren't being hurt as much as paysites sales, so those are always a good place to start...
lastly don't be afraid to throw some shit at the wall... something is bound to stick sooner or later...

for pre-selling I'm basically talking about a sales page, blog post, mini-review or fake review... really anything along those lines to try to motivate the surfer to make the decision to buy before he hits the join page... lots of different ways to do it...
several different ways to filter traffic too... but basically say you have a lesbian site, having links and categories to more specific sub-niches within the lesbian niche like amateur lesbians, lesbian bondage, tribbing, etc. will allow you to filter your traffic a bit... you can also filter by country and a ton of other shit...
I do organic... from what I hear and my own personal attempts, most of the time it's not profitable for adult affiliates to do PPC due to shitty ratios, tho it is for some paysite owners and some of the affiliate programs themselves... if you're good at PPC, you can give it a shot...
I know a guy who is in the industry and he tells me about how they help to drive traffic to each other.
I wasn't sure about PPC for Porn, but you answered my question on how to approach it. I guess it will take me awhile to do it organically, but I agree with you on the sub niches -there are a ton of them.
I am only good at PPC in my niche of the martial arts and it is easy compared to some of the other industries out there. When you are talking about Pron I may be out of my league but will give it a shot and see what happens.

The only adult I ever did was organic, and I was #3 for a pretty high volume adult search term, and even at that I was only making $600/mo. The problem was that I was writing everything by hand and the site didn't really attract any natural links. I was able to get to that spot in the SERPs in about 9 months, which is good, but I don't think I'd be able to get to #3 for "boobs" or "teens" or something in that time frame.
I looked into scaling my operation, but I honestly don't know if I want to spend THAT much time looking at friggin pr0n. A shame too, because I figured out how to scale it and could have turned that $600/mo into $6000/mo relatively easily.
If I could have done it with one site in one niche, I would have. I'm just not the kind of guy who can sit there looking at all kinds of niche and sub-niche porn all day long.
