Three thoughts entered my head on this:

1) is it comfortable enough so the woman could forget its there?

2) being viciously and vengefully murdered >> being raped.

3) Do you really want rapists checking for these things before they rape someone?

All that would take is a finger or two. But a rapist will probably be much worse to his victim after finding one of those, with the fingers or otherwise.
