rather scary I'd say...
if you run a whois search on domaintools it tells you how many domains are registered in name of the same registrant
ok the data is public, I know, but this sucks...
if you run a lookup like http://whois.domaintools.com/example.com scroll down to "Registrant Search" and it says owns at least 52 other domains, you click there, it shows them blurred and you can buy the report
this sucks, specially for internet marketers that obviously want to keep secret their niches, websites, domains etc

looks like it doesn't show those with privacy protection, but I'm not sure because I couldn't figure out which of my domains they list based only on the first char, but they don't list them all

Too much is never enough! :D

With the visa gift card, you can make the buyers name and info match the registered name.

Meh suppose. Never really seen them before (heard of them. not sure if you can even get them in uk?) - but wouldn't you need to prove who you are/who you are buying it for - otherwise anyone could get anyones name on it?

Well, that's the beauty of it. I don't know if you can get them in the UK as I'm in the US. I gave lazyhippy a link a few days ago to a bank in the UK that is apparently the only place that sells them. I'll look for the thread in a bit.

To answer your question, no. I buy the visa gift cards at Walgreens and pay for them with a credit card. You can pay any way you like, even cash. There is no name required when you purchase, it's like buying a gift certificate, works just like cash. When I make a domain purchase, I can use the number, just like a credit card number and put in any personal info I choose, made up or otherwise.

Combined with the fake name generator, they make anonymity as close to flawless as possible. You can even use a proxy when opening an account with a domain seller and a hosting company, if you choose.
