Networking/Meeting Other Affiliates

I'm in school full time so it's not exactly easy to make it to conventions, and far as I can tell there are no affiliates physically nearby me.

How do you guys meet other affiliates?

Reason I ask is because everyone keeps telling me a key to success is having successful people you can talk about business with, and right now I have none.

I'm achieving moderate success online, a few grand a month, but I just have no one to talk about business with..

well, where are you located? thats the first step. look on linkedin or google some shit.

our network is out of seattle, and we attend networking events whenever we get the chance. NWIAG (northwest internet advertising group) has mixers every month. great to meet other networks, advertisiers to get direct offers, affiliates, etc.
 
Reach out to people and be friendly. Provide good tips and ideas, and people will find their way to you. However by far the best way to meet people is at conventions. Nothing really compares - it's the whole point of the AdTechs and Affiliate Summits :)
 
I'm located in Charleston, SC. I've never met a single internet marketer in person before.

I never thought of using LinkedIn! I just joined Affiliate Marketing Masters and Affiliate Marketing Professionals so hopefully I'll meet some cool people there. It's so hard to meet real earners. I only like talking to people who take REAL action, which there seems to be a real lack of online.
 
My first step is usually to meet them in a forum and then get them on messenger, I find its easier to establish a network of people this way. The important thing though is not just to meet them but then to put the effort in after to keep up with them.
 
Looked on meetup. Closest internet marketing related meetup is 2 hours away, and they aren't active anymore :(

Hoping LinkedIN will pan out.
 
Forums, IRC #cakes, aim, skype.... all are there. You don't really need to meet people in person. It'll help as you move forward but for some relationships on boards and chat and then meet up with those people at shows. At least that's how I've always done it.
 
catching up people in forums, Skype, IM's is the way of communication. By this we can have good communication with others.
