When it comes to splash pages or landing pages does it really matter what you use when registering a new domain. - .net or .com? or anything else?

But it can affect CTR which in turn can affect what you pay. I switched domains once with a campaign and the CTR doubled. But that was not the extension but the name...

Well...I have been using a couple of .orgs to promote more adult offers (not porn)....I'm saying not freebies, screensavers, etc., and in my opinion, a .org gives you a more reputable name.

I personally prefer the .com, since it's the most common extension, but it doesn't matter much as long as it's one of the big three, .com, .net, .org

I never use any others, except for country specific stuff, since .info and .biz, along with several others, are often used by spammers and don't have a really good reputation.

I think .com names are the best.

It doesn't matter what you think is best. It matters what a search engine (PPC or otherwise) thinks is best. As far as SEO and Adwords go no TLD gets preferential treatment.

If you're looking for type in traffic, potential visitors are more familiar with .com, but that's a miniscule benefit.

.com's to me are more common if people are simply trying to remember a site.. but i do have a few .net's that do ok.

Perhaps this question is better asked over at a domain forum, like DNForum or DomainState?

Most of the people there are into monetising domains while they're waiting to flip them, so you should be in good company, and people aren't going to look down on you for being an Aff Marketer or anything.

My vote is .com if you can get it. Just make sure to include a primary keyword in your domain name. It helps Google quickly categorize your site's content during indexing and remember to use dashes in your domain url's to separate keywords.

For splash pages that are getting traffic from search engines, it doesn;t matter. If you expect people to be coming back to your site by typing in the URL, go with .com as it is most common.

Bottom line, go with .com if you can. If the .com is registered for your keyword but .net or .org are available then choose one and go with it.
