Need software to keep notes

I remember some old thread about this and some of you mentioned some good software but I can't find that thread now.

Anyone knows it or maybe knows some good software to keep notes?

if you're on Linux. Zim is pretty cool. any sort of Desktop Wiki works good.

I use Google Notebook and LOVE it.

One time i got my gmail account locked for no reason. I email them a few time and got those generic respond. Few hours later i can't log in any service from google (calendar, notebook etc) except Adsense. I then sent more email and got more generic respond.

After one week my account is back...after that, i switch everything back to desktop application:xomunch:
