Ok, I know I might be thwarted for this post out here- but I need to ask this. Before I ask what I want to ask, let me set the context right. I have been providing various services online- most of them on DP (I know I am already raising eyebrows now), but I realized that I wasnt learning much out there. So, I decided to move shop to WF. Having said that, I want to scale my services by having a website where I can offer my services in a collaborative manner. Having a site entails two major issues for me-
1. Developing the site
2. Hosting and "go live"
The first issue can be taken care of, as I can use a wordpress blog. The major issue arises from the fact that I have no knowledge about domains and web hosting.
If I buy a domain from some domain registrar, then how can I proceed in order to link my WP blog (the one where I would be offering my services) to that domain name?
To make it clearer, how can I redirect something like "example1.wordpress.com" to "www.exaple2.com"?
Any help in this direction would be fine.
Regards

You'd be much better off finding a web host that offers an addon called "Fantastico", as this addon offers a "one click install" of most popular Content Management Systems including Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, etc.

If you're going to bother buying a domain and hosting, there's no point in using a free hosted blog on wordpress.com. Buy your domain from the same place you get your hosting since that's just the easiest way to go, then once you've paid for your domain and hosting go into your cPanel (you'll receive instructions on how to do this from your host) and look for "Fantastico". There should be instructions on how to install WordPress from there and everything else is done for you step by step with easy to follow instructions.

After you've installed WP on your page, you can upload a free or paid theme through FTP and activate it on WP, start writing posts regarding your services and voila, you're done.

If you need further assistance setting this up, I can give you a hand. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Feel free to contact me and I will walk you through what you need. Both in hosting, and managed support for installations and such. Based on your admitted experience, or lack there of, managed would be the best.

THnk you all for your replies. I would take the necessary steps and keep you updated on this :0
