Need help/advice on generating Wordpress content from database dump

I have mysql database dump of a book of poems. The database is organized into chapters and pages. What I would like to do is import this data into wordpress so that I get several hundred individual wordpress posts that are essentially the individual pages of the book.

There will be other content on the site, so I want to set the book title as the category for these posts.
I also want to append the title of the book to each post so that the post titles will read BOOK NAME PAGE #

I want to set the posts to be published randomly at a rate of between 3-7 per day until they’re all published.

I would appreciate any of the following.
Write a script based on these parameters
Send me to a tool that can do this for me
Write out some pseudocode that I can use to figure out how to do this myself
Send me links to resources that might help
Pictures of a hot chick’s ass.

You can hook into WP using these 2 functions:
Function Reference/wp insert category « WordPress Codex
Function Reference/wp insert post « WordPress Codex

Using the wp_insert_post() function, you can specify the published date to rely on WP's own scheduler, so you need not write your own cron.
