Need a VPS for a small project I'm working on - usually go with a dedicated box but that would be overkill.

Who do you recommend?

Thanks all. I hate trying new hosts out. Always seems to stress me.

I use beachcomber for my dedicated boxes and have been happy with them for years.

Cool, this thread comes at a good time. I'm looking for a VPS. Fucking Dreamhost has caused my sites to be down for hours today. I'm through with their shitty shared hosting.

hostforweb.com looks pretty good so far.

My favorite 3 would be XSIHosting.com (know the owner, great guy & flexible), ServInt (requires a 1 month notification to terminate, though), and PowerVPS (never used, but other friends have - fast & reliable)

I'm hosting a proxy network on powervps.com. Its semi-managed (I think thats the term). I've been pushing some decent traffic and CPU usage and havent seen any downtime at all.

Plus they are usually offering huge discounts of some kind over at webhostingtalk.com. I was able to get their cheapest CPanel plan for like 20% off with an extra 600GB of bandwidth.

I was in a hurry to get it up so I went with virpus for this one. They had me set up in a couple hours, and finished the security (brute force) and all that fun stuff in a matter of hours. They've got a special over at sitepoint and along with the bruteforce and other add ons it turns out to be a great deal. I didn't expect some of what they did - but it was a pleasant experience.

I'll need a another next week, so I really do appreciate all the suggestions.

+1 for powervps

Just signed up for LiquidWeb and so far am super happy! Their tech support is available 24 / 7. I've called them at 3am and at 4pm, and both times got through in a minimal amount of time, and got my questions answered and taken care of inside of 7 minutes talk time.

At this point, I am very comfortable recommending them to anyone that needs a VPS.

Yes, that is my affiliate link. But if you don't want to use it, just go to: Dedicated Servers | Managed Dedicated Servers | Web Hosting | VPS | Liquid Web Either way, I'm sure you'll be pleased with them.
