need a coach for a domain offer I just got

A design company is working for some other company and they want a domain I just registered we think differently dot com.

The one question I asked when they called was what was the revenue of the company, he said he didn't know.

I got an offer today for $300 bucks

I'm doing something on the site that is I think differently, and I was thinking I would do a sister community site of the "we" one..... but

if they were actually willing to pay more than that... I could be persuaded.

Any advice beyond just countering with a different number?

the first thing I'd do is take a look at the design company's website and guess at how much they charge for site design based on their portfolio / client list...or I'd just call them and ask. Based on that you have a better grasp of what kind of pocket book the company they are representing might be working with. It's all a negotiation so I'd throw out a larger number and see if they flinch - I just know I wouldn't like the feeling if I let a domain go for 2k and then saw it flash on the screen at the end of commercials for the new IBM marketing campaign.

get yourself a professional broker for that domain. seriously, take a lesson from the domain thinkaboutit.com from hyundai. The domain sounds worthless but has millions of dollars backing it, so be smart about it send out a pressrelease mentioning the thinkaboutit.com campaign and then have like 3 ideas of how a company can use your domain wethinkdifferently.com to give a public opinion of their products being differently. You could be seating on a fucking golden egg.. lol. Just market that shit bro . Dont beleive me, this domain has enough traffic to be accepted into Hitfarm. thinkdifferently.com, now you want to let your domain go for 500 bucks.. fuck that.
You remeind me of this guy that sold me his domain for about 200 bucks, oh guess what the domain gets over 40 direct hits a day. No search engine pure traffic, thats over 1200 hits a month. A little bit of seo, i should have over 10k hits a month within the first month. Now back to your domain, its in the range of ireport.com and the likes. So be smart get on the domain section or Dnforum.com and see if someone can help you sell the domain. :) All the best
 
If you need some help pm me, don't do anything silly like say you will sell it for 50k unless you want to lose them.
