I'm not sure if this problem is specific to NameCheap or if other .CM registrars are also dealing with it, but as of Mar 4th, none of my .CM domains registered with NameCheap have been accessible. Can't forward to anything (which is exactly what most folks want to do with these domains).

New registrations are also not possible. However, if you search for them, NameCheap will tell you they're unavailable (even if its buttsecks23432kj.cm).

From status.namecheap.com:

Dear Customers,
We would like to inform you that .CM registry is currently having communication issues with the registrars due to which DNS and whois changes may not take effect. This affects most .CM domains registered with us.
We are constantly communicating with them to have the resolution on this although at the moment there’s unfortunately no ETA.
We apologise for the inconveniences caused by the issue and thank you for your patience and understanding. We will keep you updated on the progress.

So far they have basically told me I just have to wait it out. I thought I'd mention it here in case any of you are losing money like I am and haven't noticed this issue yet.

heh, i'll tell you a little story about namecheap and the Cameroon registrar

So on the 22nd of January I registered "o.cm" through namecheap and it about 4 hours for the domain to actually register. The DNS took a long time to propogate as I could see the index page and my friend in Florida couldn't (weird). Anyway I go to sleep and wake up the next morning to find that my domain was unregistered and that I haven't been refunded. I create a critical support ticket on namecheap on the 24th and a lot of back and forth updates to the ticket happens before I find out that

A.) They don't support one character domain names
B.) That rule only applies to my domain name since "The domain g.cm is actually a test domain set up by the registry"

Anyway I had paid for the domain name using my bank's debit card, which by the time they were ready to give me a refund (February 22) I was already with another bank, so they told me to wait 60 days for a refund and closed the ticket. I mean I love NC but come on how hard was it to fight for my right to keep the domain since it registered properly in the first place. Oh yeah... about your problem (sorry I get sidetracked easily) I noticed that sometime during all this shit going on with namecheap and the cameroon registrar that I could no longer buy .cm domain names or even see if they were available through NC's domain search

Dang. That sucks. Sounds like NameCheap may have jumped the gun on getting involved with the .CM tld.

They do love taking your $100 for each one, though. I bet it was hard for them to close new .CM registrations.

It's really the only problem I've ever had with them, though. So I'm trying to give them some slack. But if this takes more than a couple weeks I'm going to have to start clambering for some sort of make-good.

ROFL
Is this Chad? If not, seems like multiple people are getting raped on this situation, specifically with "o.cm".

Over the last year the .cm TLD holder been accused of typo-squatting, as well as having technical difficulties due to the quality of cable connecting to West Africa, affecting the performance of their root servers.

Though some of the smart TLD holders don't put root servers in the same country as the TLD is for. For example an upcoming .wf TLD (Wallis and Futuna) for a country that may be soon underwater completely in the ocean. And some other TLDs are for uninhabited islands, where there's obviously no place to put a root server.

So the .cm issue for the past year, is just failboat of trying to keep everything in Cameroon without the technology or quality to supply the demand... plus a lil bit of famous african corruption I suspect (far as I know they don't give any refunds themselves).

most of these domain registrars, charge with credit card and some of us cannot use credit cards from certain countries. I would like to get a list of domain registrars that uses either Alertpay or Liberty reserve for our ease out hare.
