My wordpress installation seems locked down

My wordpress installation seems a little more locked down on my Dedicated server than my usual Wordpress installs on "shared" hosting on other servers. Like for instance, I can't update plug-ins, or update WP automatically without entering my Hostname, Login and Password. And I also see this in the "Incoming Links" from the Dashboard:

Warning: curl_setopt() [function.curl-setopt]: CURLPROTO_FILE cannot be activated when in safe_mode or an open_basedir is set in /home/mysite/public_html/mysite.org/wp-includes/http.php on line 1302

Any suggestions?
 


Do you have safe mod on or open_basedir activated?

You probably aren't using suphp on the dedicated server, right?
