my first webshop -- is reselling a good idea?

hey wassup people, thank you all so much for allowing me to register and become part of this great survival forum. i'm about to launch my very first webshop and i'm very excited.

but i'm a poor bastard though. i can't afford buying wholesale, at least not yet. so i'm thinking maybe i should start by reselling. assuming i've found a nice niche, would this be a good idea? can i make a living from it? what are the pros and cons?

i don't know much about the art of reselling. but what i wanna do is to create a webshop better looking and easier to use than the other webshops in my niche, and then contact all of those webshops and see if i can resell their products for a certain commission. and then ofcourse requesting high resolution photographs of their products so i can brand them better.

i'd really appreciate some advice.

i'm just a poor young buck with dreams.

Drop Shipping, Light Bulk, Liquidation and Import Wholesalers from OneSource! use them they have all the drop shippers in there that are legit. You want to find a product that you can have dropshipped so you don't have to ship and handle. That shit will get old fast. It costs like $249 a year.

You want to buy at wholesale and sale at retail right? You need to get a product thats sells that everyone and their mother is selling, build a website and then do some PPC to advertise. You collect the cash, notify the dropshipper, send them the cash, they ship. Rinse and repeat till you die.

Remember it takes cash to make cash in most every industry. You're going to need about $300 minimum to get this going and that's if you do all of it. But that aint shit to opening a brick and mortar.

i guess dropshipping is the thing i want to do.

i imagine i'd have to create some sort of affiliate retailers functionality to my webshop, that lets me add new retailers and their products and that automatically notifies them upon new orders and sends them their cash after i've taken my commission. i'm gonna let code rinse and repeat for me while i'm on some other shit ;)

(Coming from someone who has had experience in wholesale purchasing and dropshipping - me),

Warning: most dropshippers that charge you a 'membership' fee or any fees besides just a few bucks each order for dropshipping is probably either a) not legit, b) going to have mediocre products or, (the most common) c) pretty much going to be giving you resale rates for the dropshipping.

I personally believe if you plan on resale, just save some money up and purchase a reasonable order from the source.

That's my opinion, and I have done wholesale purchasing from the manufacturers for resale.
