My Co-Workers Got Laid Off One Month After I Quit

So I quit my shitty job as a salesperson at Tiffany's because I wanted to travel and focus on making monies online. I found out today that a bunch of my coworkers got laid off today and are getting 3 months severance pay. I'm pretty bummed because if I had just stuck it out for one more month that severance could have gone a long way. Oh well, such is life!
 


Dude.. I have the same experience minus the severance.. I quit on Nov. 15 and after the first of the year found that 2 people had been laid off (no severance).. this just confirmed to me that I was glad I was out.. forget about what could have been and stay in the now.. move forward. live the dream, dude..
 
Eh, shit happens. You weren't planning on that extra three months money, so it's not like it's missing or anything.
 
Don't waste a lot of time thinking about it, because it will end up messing with your head. But don't feel too bad; I worked at a place that announced possible layoffs and a bunch of people got mad and quit (not enough seniority for severance), then a month later the layoff was canceled and those guys were standing out on the street looking like shit.

A year later we were all laid off for real though. Severance isn't all it's cracked up to be; they tax the hell out of it and it only delays the inevitable. The only thing that really counts is having something to do when you leave, no matter what the circumstances.

Shit that sucks. I think they do that on purpose 'cause it happened to me before too. Anyway, thanks for all the inspirational words guys. You are right, it really would have just prolonged things, besides I work best under pressure.

Even Tiffany's? This is really getting scarier.
 
You made the decision to quit a shitty job so you could do what matters to you in your life, and you acted on it.

Your co-workers just sat around and waited for whatever to happen to em, same as 99% of the population do for the entire lives.

I'd say you got something far more valuable than they did out of the situation.

I sold or got rid of everything I own and now everything I have fits into 2 bags. It feel good to keep things simple. "The things you own end up owning you."
