Multi-level marketing is not even legal in some countries. And, even in the places where it is considered legal to do MLM, you have the issue of not earning much. You might earn a few percentage even on that first level and there is a huge push by your recruiter to get more people into your downline. And, the only way to really earn money is by having a huge downline filled with super salesmen and MLM superstars, which is rare.

MLM is awesome because it gives affiliate marketers someone to look down on

Though MLM is not really something I would ever get involved with, the people that I know in the MLM industry are fanatical about what they do. These people are over sold on the idea that MLM works. And, there are some real MLM rockstars, usually people that over very social, huge local network of friends and family to sell to or recruit from and those who have mastered the art of using social networks. Even if MLM is not your thing, you have to admire the dedication these people give to their niche. Can't say that about many affiliate marketers who are just out there slapping up low quality review sites and griping as to why they're not earning money. Affiliate marketing is not at all about the review site. If more affiliate people would take selling as seriously as MLM people do, then maybe they would earn more money.

Ever been to UTAH? You'll find a new MLM starting up every month. Granted very few of them actually become a sustainable company, but people are crazy about some of those products. just make sure you have enough friends and family to lose relationships with before you join :)

Anyone with half a brain knows MLM is bullshit. So it doesn't bear repeating.

There was a documentary I watched years ago where they followed 5 MLM people around for a year, there were 2 people who were new to MLM, 1 guy who had been doing it on and off for years and two people who lived and breathed MLM.

Guess what happened? (rhetorical question)

I felt sorry for one of the live and breath MLM'ers. Young guy in his 20's busted his ass every day and his goal was to make enough money to by a BMW.

If he had put his energy into anything else, hell he could have sold burgers, he would have made it to his goal.

Instead he was broke and $100,000's in debt.

MLM reminds me of HYIP, sure some people make money with both of them, but most don't.

Actually now that I think about it, MLM and HYIP seem to attract the same type of people.

There's a guy called Tim Sales and as far as I remember, his website was FirstClassMLM.

No endorsements or anything...Was a good read, if you want to look him up.
