it is actually a "feature" of Word
This is not an easter egg or hack. This is documented at support.microsoft.com/support/ kb/articles/Q180/6/85.ASP
IT SAYS:
Word includes a way to quickly insert sample text into a document. To do this, type the following

=rand()
and then press ENTER.

link

it is still in Office 2007, btw

there was a cool egg in Excel 97:
Excel - Excel 97 Flight to Credits
1. On a new Worksheet, Press F5
2. Type X97:L97 and hit enter
3. Press the tab key
4. Hold Ctrl-Shift
5. Click on the Chart Wizard toolbar button
6. Use mouse to fly around - Right button forward/ Left button reverse

Ok, that's nice and all, but why couldn't they have made it so you type in =rand(topicname) and it would auto-generate text on that topic. That would have been much more useful for people on this forum. :rolleyes:
