Basically, that is my question.

Go for a two - or three column design?
I am basically fond of 3 columns, but 2 seem to grow on me,argh...

Advise.

emp, if you are doing a blog with your own writing go with 3 columns. if you are doing a scraper blog go with 1 column, if you are not using your blog for something product related go with 2 columns

Entertainment, fun blog.
Basically going to be the .com version of an existing .de domain.

Yes, my own writing. No, not product-related.

I don't use 2 or 3 columns. I only use one single column with an ad unit above, below, and blended within the content

I do two columns for two reasons: I find it easier to read with two columns, and I'm not smart enough with CSS to make 3 columns. :)

Take a look at what weblogs inc do to monetize their blogs

http://www.weblogsinc.com/

they seem to have settled on three columns.

You could also consider a wordpress theme like this one

http://www.sapiensbryan.com/index.php/ads-minded-wide-version/

I've actually been thinking a little bit about this earlier. And I thought that with 3 columns you could have the ads in the middle one. Just like that theme. So that will require that people at least look over the ads, now in the days where alot people have quite an ad blindness.

JC at weblogs inc is god did you not know that? he tells google what to do, or at least that is the way he tells it!
