Microsoft Surface

I hate apple, but god why does Microsoft always make there ads seem so cheesy. Looks awesome this stuff was on digg a long while back by some research company I wonder if MS bought rights.
Kinda cool, but only good in that specific use imo. This kind of stuff will be the breaker between the way poeple see computers. People still see computers as something personal and private and these communal computer type things will take some time to catch on if they ever do.

Nice find Brandon

You have to hand it to them. I was analyzing the words the guy used, and how he builds you up.. to deliver this close:

"Where entertainment is king"

I gotta get one for the office.

This is one of those items that look absolutely amazing, but when you actually get them, you can't find any good use for them. Yes, of course I want to put my drink on the table, yes please, spill it all over the "surface" and let the table interact with the drink itself..

Also for some reason I highly doubt that Microsoft is capable of delivering such a smooth experience that ads wants you to believe in. I bet there's USB-port somewhere where you have to stick in your usb-stick with drivers for your device. And of course when you are at your friend's place, you forgot the drivers home and you can forget watching photos.

And yes, of course I don't have anything else to do than draw all night long with different objects..

One group that will benefit from this technology is photographers. Of course "the surface" needs to be able to show colors correctly and so on.

*edit* I just found out that it's a HUGE table. It's not just a "surface". It's just a big CRT screen with touch screen... *cough*bullshit*cough*
Maybe Apple can release similar product tomorrow? They can just flip iMac over and replace the original LCD panel with touch screen. It's smaller, probably better and doesn't crash as often.

I want one of those. It is one step closer to my favorite sci-fi novel, Ender's Game, being reality. Although the "desk" doesn't hover. And I hope it comes with the game "Giants Drink". :stonedsmilie:

Like it or not, it's a step in the right direction. I dream of a day when I can simply tell my PC to open this window or that or manipulate the GUI by touching it. No more carpal tunnel! In fact, if the screen is mounted on a wall in front of you while you stand and you drag and manipulate enough windows and applications around it would almost constitute a cardio workout!

dude i love the third video where they just drag the items they ate at a reasturant into their credit card and the the gauge on the top for a tip, that would be so fucking convinient

So it's pretty much just a big computer like coffee table? No thanks, I'd be constantly cleaning fingerprints off of it...

I thought of that too. Nice to see I'm not the only OCD person around.

And the thought of someone ELSE putting their grimy paws on the screen almost makes me ill.

I don't doubt they will have a special cleaning system/product for this new toy.

Funny, I pictured my self going nutso when ever any one would touch that. It would be one of those "Hey this is so fucking cool, check this out. Don't you dare touch it though, let me show you." types of situations.

Yeah, I saw this during a TED conference demo a few years ago. Very sexy stuff. I think the downside of MS having this thing means that where it could really shine (in open-source developments) can't happen. Hopefully MS will make programming and application development for this less painful than usual.

Some Surface Domains

So,
I purchased some domains related to the Surface. Just looking to resell them (not develop) so where do you think I could get the most money from them? Sitepoint? DP? Ebay? Sedo? Afternic? I purchased 17 domains and I'd probably sell them as a lot unless people think I could make more from selling them individually. I appreciate any advice you guys have.
