Are managed dedicated servers easy to work with? Does it come with Cpanel. or something similar? I've done many shared hosting and I know my way around that but I'm a bit scared about dedicated servers. And also any recommendations.

I dont really have a budget, just something competitively priced and easy to work with.

I dont really have a budget, just something competitively priced and easy to work with.

LiquidWeb and Softlayer would be my two recommendations for dedicated servers, as both providers offer "Fully Managed" servers, just make sure to get Cpanel/WHM (remember on Softlayer its 25$ on top of the base price for cpanel/whm).

If you ever had a reseller account with WHM/Cpanel, or a VPS with the same, the Dedicated server will seem very much the same, except a crapload more options in WHM.

+1 for liquidweb

Go to webhostingtalk and check to see if they have any deals going (they should).

I think managed dedicated hostings are more easy than unmanaged dedicated hosting to work with.
AHM go with dedicated hosting ,it is also easy to operate.
Why not clear know your requirement of the hosting quality ,this must include your budget, operating system, bandwidteh, etc. Then search it ,compare them try to find a suitable one for you.

I've tried hostgator, lunarpages and I can safely say that iweb.com provides the best dedicated server in town. Plus they always have crazy deals going on, 70% off etc.

Check the site out, I remember when they halved all the prices. People were basically lining up for a dedi

Go with Liquidweb if you require some "hand holding" -- they are incredibly patient and fast with support!

WiredTree and LiquidWeb as already mentioned are both recommended. ServInt is another company to consider.

SoftLayer, while a very good company, is not a managed server company. You can pay them $3 to perform an administrative task such as kernel updates, firewall configuration, etc. They will not however proactively restart a downed service, update your server etc.

The best managed service I ever had was from InterServer, Inc - Advanced Hosting and Custom Dedicated Servers with Managed² support - You might want to check to see what they do proactively, or what they monitor now, but they always offered to perform kernel upgrades, and were on top of my server monitoring more than any other company was (and I used to resell dedicated servers). They noticed my server was down one morning (at 6 AM), and by 6:30, my backup HD was in a freshly built server, in process of installing CPanel and restoring all accounts from the backup. Their head tech stayed on the job for hours with my admin (remotely) making sure all accounts were restored properly, all IPs properly assigned, and the server properly secured.

I'm with wiredtree as well, support people know their shit and always get things resolved quickly.

You could just get an unmanaged dedi and get the management part done from webbycart.com/platinumservermanagement.com/phantomnoc.com

I still prefer ServerPronto. Cheapest I have found so far. I have been with them for over three years now and have like 15 support tickets over that time. Most of them asking for changes to my system, upgrades etc.
