How would I take a wordpress theme and make it look more like a website, like the one you see here:

.tooth-whitening-tip.info/keep-your-teeth-white

Anyone got any step by step guides, tutorials, links or anything?

Looks like a standard wordpress theme with a custom header and using pages instead of posts for content.

Get the wordpress plugin NAVT. This allows you to create menus based on your content. The menus are styled to your template theme.

With this, make sure youre using a widget-able template.

Finally, use 'pages' for content and not 'posts'. These wont carry extra info you dont care about like post titles/post date/post times etc.

You may need to do some hacking to remove template menus and other details but, isnt that what making Wordpress sites is all about?

that looks like pretty standard wordpress template editing. why don't you go download the blue zinfandel theme from briangardner dot com, where this theme came from, and try to edit it to match the look/feel of this website? you'll be well on your way to learning how to mod any theme after you're successful.

Maybe if you host it yourself it could look better. Our blog uses wordpress but we have our own custom theme and style sheet and all that. Check it out if you like.

But I agree it does look like the standard with a few minor adapts.

Once you figure it all out they are very user friendly.

You can find tons of wordpress helps through their site or by doing a search for wordpress help on any search engine.

PS I like how you used those little calenders as the post date :)
