Alright, so I own artistlyrics.net, and I'm looking to develop it. What is the best way to go about this? Just scrape existing lyric sites? or actually go through the trouble of adding lyrics/artists/albums individually?

Also, would sorting through albums be a good idea or should I not even bother with that?

Peace,
Stacks

Start today adding everything manually and I will talk to you in the year 2038 when you're about halfway done. haha, i think scraping is the way to go. how to UPDATE it is the bigger question.

if you find it let me know
Haha, there have been some of those going around. I think I'll set up a REGEX script tomorrow and start scraping comments/albums/ratings/artists, etc into a database and do it that way. Fuck, I could only imagine how much space the DB will take up.

Updating should be simple enough if you have a half-decent administration portion tied with the database in place

Yeah with an admin panel in should be a jiffy to actually add more lyrics... it's finding people to do it that's the tough part.
Yeah, but there are people who do the stuff for fun, plus grabbing the top 20 lyrics once every two weeks or so can't be that hard of a task :zzwhip:

Yeah well tell all the people that do that for fun to shoot me an e-mail and I will

Is this profitable though? I can't imagine a niche so competitive/saturated having room for more sites ... hurts to think about how much I'll have have to spend on backlinks :laughing-smiley-007

The result of an hour or two imageshaof programming... 12,000 rows & nearly 400,000 lyrics, all organized in MySQL

Wasn't too painful :rasta:
