What if it's a government conspiracy to track people even more? J/k of course, this does seem very useful.
I guess then you can't really afford to lose your phone. But then again, you can always get another phone and put a tracking tile on your main phone, so you can track it with your backup phone.
$18 a tile and they only last you for a year? No Android support? Limited to 10 tiles per install? Loved the idea for a few seconds there.
If they were smart, they would integrate Tile into the battery of my phone so I can track down the somabitch peasant kids who steals it. You'd make a million selling that shit to sex tourists in 3rd world countries.

The stolen goods aspect makes for good marketing, and it'll be great feature if there's mass adoption... but until then I don't have any use for this.
I can see it being useful for some things, but tagging that big white brick on all my shit just doesn't seem practical. This probably going to be a flop.
Only really intriguing part is anti-theft, but those little things are probably easy smashed to bits.

People used to say digital cameras shouldn't be legal because it could enable child porn since people can just transfer the pics to their computer in the privacy of their own home. (yes people could dev their own film but it wasn't streamlined for "everyone" to do)
But overall the technology has benefited far more than it's hurt.
The tile is small enough to conceal under a bike seat, or if you open up a laptop you could probably cram it in somewhere, even a peripheral slot.
Pretty neat, I'm sure if they're successful future versions will continue to get smaller. Kinda neat how other tiles can update you on the location of your shit.
