Two Charged In iPad Hack That Exposed 120,000 Users' Data

Last June, a group of hackers calling themselves Goatse Security claimed they had exploited a security flaw in AT&T's 3G network and had gained access to personal information belonging to thousands of iPad users. On Tuesday, two Goatse members--Daniel Spitler and Andrew Auernheimer--were arrested in connection with the June incident.

If you actually read the entire story (kid has a blog too), AT&T released a patch to fix this, but didn't say why. These kids then released the story... and got fucked.

seriously they should be invoicing apple... finding the screw up and then teaching them a lesson with the exploit... These companies are all hell bent on finding out who it is then getting them charged rather than finding out who they are and employing them...

If I was going to be paranoid about a piece of software I would get hackers to test it... if they can find exploits or bugs they can then show you how they found it and how it was done...

Hilarious yes, but this got me all fired up.

WTF is up with big companies suing the shit out of people who embarrass them?

Would they rather these two "hackers" of taken their claim to some carders, thus really embarrassing them? I just don't understand the logic.
