Lock the enlightened members section

There have been new members creating shitty threads in the enlightened members section the past week or so. I figure that the majority of people here would like to keep that sub-section pretty clean and filled with good info, is it possible to basically lock that sub-section so no one can create new threads in it? That way the only posts put in there would be threads that moderators moved themselves. I don't know if there's anyway of locking the sub-section so new threads cant be created while people can still comment and ask questions, but it would help keep the noobs with their "MUST SEE TECHNIQUES" out of an otherwise really good source of info.

Plus, it'd be easier on the mods for cleanup anyway. Just a thought
 


I came here to say exactly this. The threads in the enlightened members section that were promoted from other areas are pure gold. Sadly, several newbs and charlatans have had the audacity to post there, diluting that epic section with the same bullshit that waters down the rest of the forum. It would be awesome if the enlightened members section could be locked so no new threads can be posted (except by admins), but the comments on existing threads can continue.

You don't want enlightened members to be like The War Room where anyone can post anything they want.
 
ya even more spam threads have been showing up since i last posted. still think the forum as a whole would benefit if new threads couldnt be created there

Would it be possible to install a plugin of some kind where people can vote to have threads moved to enlightened members, and after x amount of votes, it gets moved? Would take some pressure off of the mods.

Not much of an issue to me, but I do like the idea.

How about a mod that takes teh sum of all likes and uses it as an algorithm base (ala digg) to rank current threads in each forum, and a main one for all of wf. Scrolling through 9 pages to read only a few is a bit taxing .. would prefer cloud sourcing it to you guys.

For this, I think vbulletin already comes with it, I just don't think it's built into the theme. Shouldn't be too hard to do. That thing at the top of threads with likes in, with the ability to sort by number, iirc, can come up for entire forums as well.
 
i liked how before it was basically no one created a thread in it, it thread was moved there.. so I thought it was mod locked anyways

Nice 1. Would vouch in for this as well.. Lock in the Enlightned section and make another sub section where everyone can post. After 100 votes it get's move to the Main section..

After moving then we can go with erect's post of whoever have the most likes will get the top spot etc etc.

is this even possible this days? lolz mods are too busy in other sections and bot's getting here and then that they need to keep blocking.. but who knows maybe they can get a small time for this one..

this seems like a good idea. The only issue that may arise from this though is some bullshit thread getting moved from the shooting the shit section into enlightened members because some people dish out a bunch of votes for no good reason. I'd imagine a bunch of threads about anarchy or the albany plantation would end up in enlightened members. Maybe when they reach enough votes, mods get notified of the thread and they can approve it? I dunno that seems like a little too much also.

Or they can just lock the section. Any worthy thread will be brought to their attention or noticed anyway, and it's not that hard to move a thread...

from STS to Enlightenment needs a mod approval. Even if it does not have enough votes if a Mod doesn't seen it fit it will not go in the Enlightened section. that simple..
